WHAT IS A MEAL PLAN? CAN I ORDER ITEMS OUTSIDE OF MY MEAL PLAN?
Thistle is a super flexible subscription service. At sign up, you selected your meal plan (how many breakfasts/lunches/dinner/snacks you want each week) – but you can order items outside your meal plan in a few different ways, or change your ongoing meal plan whenever you’d like! If you want an ongoing change, you can 
update your individual meal plan on the Meal Plan page.

You can also customize individual deliveries if you want to do things like add on an extra meal one week, add your favorite juice, or get double of your favorite snack! Just head to your Upcoming Deliveries page and click "Customize this delivery.

What does “plant-forward” mean? 
It means Thistle's meals center on plants: whole, natural, nutrient-dense vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, legumes, whole grains, and plenty of herbs and spices. They contain a healthy balance of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats to keep you energized, lots of fiber to keep you satiated and your gut healthy, and provide tons of essential vitamins and minerals. Whole food, plant-forward diets promote health and sustainability while offering flexibility for individuals who may occasionally include animal products in their meals.

Eating a diet that’s plant-forward is one of the best ways to reduce your environmental footprint. Real talk — animal products are the biggest drivers of our food system's greenhouse gas emissions and other negative environmental impacts. They are leading drivers of deforestation, species extinction, freshwater use, land use, and air and water pollution.  By eating plant-forward, you’re reducing your environmental footprint by 60-80%! 

Globally, 30-40% of all food that’s produced is never consumed. In Thistle’s kitchen, and tangentially in yours, food waste is always on our mind. With meticulous data and planning, we’re able to reduce food waste in our supply chain and our kitchen – and what we don’t use, we make into delicious soups or donate to those in need! 

Each year, we donate tens of thousands of pounds of healthy ingredients and ready-to-eat meals to our food pantry partners. Plus, we can help you reduce food waste at home – one study found that on average, meal kits reduce total household food waste by almost 40%2.

We know that there is no one-size-fits-all solution to wellness. To get you started, here are a few tips to help you get the most out of your experience with Thistle:  

WHAT DO I DO WITH MY BAGS AND ICE PACKS AFTER EACH DELIVERY? (LOCAL DELIVERY ONLY)
All of our delivery materials are reusable! We collect, sterilize, and reuse the Thistle bags and ice packs for future deliveries, so please leave your empty Thistle bags (with ice packs) where your new deliveries are made. Check out below to see how to reuse and recycle our other packaging. 

WHEN DOES BILLING RUN EACH WEEK?
In order to make sure we’re only making what we need to minimize food waste, billing runs at 11:59pm Pacific each Thursday for all deliveries you have scheduled for the upcoming week, so any delivery customizations, meal plan or address changes, skips, and pauses for those deliveries will need to be made by this time. If you need help adjusting your order, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help!  

CAN I CHANGE MY MEAL PLAN SCHEDULE?
We have two delivery cycles: “Early Week” and “End of Week” — and you can opt into either or both, depending on your schedule. We feature different meals for each day, so please note that M/T/W meals are only available in our Early Week cycle, and Th/F/S meals are only available in our End of Week cycle. You can add or remove a second weekly delivery on an ongoing basis or just for a specific week.

All of our salads have hearty greens that can be heated up in a pan with some freshly cooked pasta and mixed in with the dressing.

BOWL → TACOS
Heat your Thistle salad or bowl in a pan like you normally would but plate them on tortillas and top with a dressing drizzle and squeeze of lime.
 

JUICES → COCKTAILS
Both our juices and shots make a refreshing and flavor packed component for both cocktails and mocktails!

HOW CAN I SEE MY WEEKLY CHARGES?
You can view all weekly invoices in your Account, under 
Order History. Find the week you would like to view, and click "Details" on the right hand side of the screen. You will also see any discounts or account credits that were applied to your invoice for that week.

How To Recycle & Reuse Our Packaging

All of our packaging is recyclable or reusable. Here’s how to reuse or recycle each container properly:  

MEAL, SNACK, & JUICE CONTAINERS
Thoroughly rinse and dry any plastic food and juice containers before recycling. Some facilities may not accept plastics with lingering food or liquid residue. 

JARS
Rinse and dry soup and jarred salad containers before recycling. These containers are great for storing leftovers! Please do not microwave these containers or put hot food in them. 

DELIVERY BAGS
We collect, sanitize and reuse empty Thistle bags. Leave them wherever your deliveries are typically dropped off and our drivers will pick them up. 

ICE PACKS
We collect these after use. You can leave your ice packs wherever your deliveries are typically dropped off and our drivers will pick them up. Otherwise, you can let the ice pack thaw, then cut a small corner and empty the non-toxic, water soluble contents into trash before recycling the plastic pack.
